Below are some of the most common problems we come across.
A corn is an inverted cone of hard skin which grows into the tissue. If left alone it can grow bigger and deeper causing discomfort and pain.
Callus is a yellowish plaque of hard skin that can develop superficially most typically on the foot and is associated with friction and pressure.
We can assist you with useful advice and footcare products that you might need to help you manage your feet.
The hard skin on the heel tends to crack and produce fissures that can sometimes bleed. It can be painful when walking and lead to infections.
The nails can become thickened and brittle with a distinctive yellowy/browny colour and eventually begin to crumble. The longer is left alone, the harder it is to get rid of.
A fungal infection between the toe clefs. it consists of maceration and fissuring of the skin as well as itching and a burning sensation.
A nail that increases in curvature. The symptoms vary from little discomfort to severe pain due to inflammation of the sulcus. Regular treatment may be required.
A condition in which a spike of nail has pierced the skin and penetrated the tissue. The surrounding tissue becomes red, shiny, tense and the toe appears swollen.
Trauma to the nail can result in the nail becoming thicker with dark brown colour changes. Cutting the nail is difficult and shoe pressure can cause discomfort or pain.
The smaller toes can suffer from a range of deformities; hammer, mallet, clawed and retracted positions. Typically can lead to corns and calluses forming on the tip or top of the toes.
A bunion can develop painful corns on the side of the joint and be a problem for shoe wearing. Surgery is the only way to get rid of them, but there are gadgets you can use to manage the condition.
I brief, the arch is at the heart of how the foot functions. Most conditions such as flat feet can be managed by using either accommodative or preventative insoles.
This is an inflammation of the plantar fascia. You have pain on the bottom of your foot, around your heel and arch. Treatment involves relief of the inflammatory process and arch/heel support.
An entrapment of the nerves between the 3rd & 4th inter-metatarsals. It can develop from walking a great deal, wearing tight fitting or high heel shoes. Tingling, burning or numbness are common symptoms.
